My favorite character would be Kate (also known as Erin)
from the book Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks because in the beginning of the book she was very shy
and wasn't really open to anyone she was around but her strength got more and
more as the book went on. At first she didn't like to be open to people due to her past of getting abused by her husband and having to run away to keep safe. She couldn't tell anyone because her husband was part of the police department. Also she lived in a cabin where there was no one around her for a good distance. This kept her out of the open in the town. By the end of the book she was very open to other people that she trusted and wasn't afraid to tell people about her past. Examples are: at the beginning of the book she didn't tell anyone her real name because she didn't want her husband to find her, but as she started to trust Alex, she knew she had to tell him about it in order to keep her safe. Her real name was Erin but she took on the name of her neighbor's daughter who had died awhile ago. If she didn't get stronger as the book went on she would have never been able to tell him about her horrible past. Her past was a secret she really didn't want to talk about. This shows that she really needed to find someone really special to be able to tell this to. It wasn't just some small secret she could tell anyone. Another example to show that she was strong is in the beginning she didn't really see herself as a mom and taking care of kids since she had never had any, but when Alex's kids came around it was different. In the beginning of the book the kids grew very attached to her, especially Lexi. She just thought it was cute but as the book went on she grew very attached to Lexi and Josh. She became somewhat of a mother to them since their mother had died a few years back due to cancer. This was very hard for her because she moved to a small town not thinking she would become a motherly form to these kids. In the end if the book she was put to the ultimate test when she was put to watch Lexi and Josh and the store catches on fire. She had to find a way to get the kids out without them getting hurt. This shows how strong and brave she was. I connect to her so strongly because if i was in her situation i would want to be able to be as strong as she was. This is why she is my favorite character.
